Report: Michael Sam in contact with 'half-dozen' teams
A half dozen NFL teams have been in contact with free agent defensive end Michael Sam, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter said on Sunday's SportsCenter that Sam could get an opportunity to return to a practice squad "any time now."
Originally drafted by the St. Louis Rams, Sam was signed to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on Sept. 3 after not surviving the Rams final roster cuts. The Cowboys waived him on Oct. 21.
"There's certainly been interest from some teams (but) not enough to get him on a practice squad. But he's been in contact, he does want to continue to play. Think he'll get that opportunity in the next month or so," said Schefter.
Schefter said it "wouldn't be surprising" if Sam signs a futures contract to go to camp with another team next summer.

Sam made history and received national attention in the spring when he announced he was gay several weeks before the NFL combine. As the reigning SEC co-defensive player of the year at Missouri, Sam became the highest-profile active gay football player and became the first openly gay player to be selected in the NFL draft.
Following being released by the Cowboys, Dallas owner Jerry Jones said that Sam was "an outstanding look in practice" who was very active and "worked very hard" but that the team had too many players at his position and needed the roster spot.
