Pope Francis Accidentally Tweets Support for New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints got an unexpected backer ahead of their game against the Jaguars on Sunday.
Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, inadvertently showed the Saints some love when he tagged the team and included their logo in a tweet Sunday morning. The pope, who has more than 18 million followers on Twitter, was actually tweeting a message about five new saints who were canonized earlier in the day.
Today we give thanks to the Lord for our new #Saints. They walked by faith and now we invoke their intercession.

That didn't stop fans and players alike from interpreting it as a good omen for their team. Even Saints linebacker Alex Anzalone had some fun with it.
"Wow, are we blessed or what?!??" he tweeted.

The Pope’s blessing may have been unintentional, but if the Saints win again without Drew Brees on Sunday, it may have helped just a little.
