🤝 NFL Offseason Moves: First Day of Negotiating, 3/11

The first needle in the NFL offseason 2024 moved, as the league unofficially opened up shop with free-agency tampering starting at noon Eastern yesterday. Until 4 PM ET tomorrow, teams and players can only negotiate and come to verbal agreements on contract terms. As expected, however, we saw a flurry of tentative signings, notably at the running back position, sending the internet into a frenzy.

Some players, such as Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones, CB L’Jarius Sneed, Jacksonville Jaguars DE Josh Allen, Baltimore Ravens DL Justin Madubuike, Chicago Bears CB Jaylon Johnson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers S Antoine Winfield Jr., QB Baker Mayfield and WR Mike Evans, and Colts WR Michale Pittman Jr., signed contract extensions with their teams.

Other key names, such as QB Kirk Cousins (Atlanta Falcons), QB Russell Wilson (Pittsburgh Steelers), DL Christian Wilkins (Las Vegas Raiders) and RBs Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles), Josh Jacobs (Green Bay Packers), Tony Pollard (Tennessee Titans), D’Andre Swift (Chicago Bears) and Austin Ekeler (Washington Commanders) all agreed to terms on new homes.

Cousins and Barkley were among the biggest splashes yesterday in talent and contract value, as the 35-year-old Cousins agreed to a four-year $180 million deal with a promising young Falcons team, and the 27-year-old Barkley agreed to a three-year 37.75 million-dollar deal with an Eagles team hoping for a quick re-tooling to stay relevant.

😮‍💨 Latest NFL Offseason Rumors & News for 2024

Early today, Day 2 of the NFL offseason 2024, teams have stayed busy, particularly the Minnesota Vikings, as NFL offseason rumors indicate a new QB and RB are headed to Minneapolis. After a year in the San Francisco system, Sam Darnold appears to be headed to Minnesota, as is newly-cut Packer RB, the 29-year-old Aaron Jones, who when healthy, dominated in the 2023-24.

In other news, the Los Angeles Rams are reuniting with CB Darious Williams, DT DaQuan Jones is re-signing with the Buffalo Bills, former first-round LB Kenneth Murray heads to the Titans, DL Javon Kinlaw appears to be a New York Jet and Derrick Henry is engaged in light discussions with multiple teams, including the Ravens.

🔮 NFL Offseason Predictions Featuring Saquon Barkley

Typically, DraftKings Sportsbook, one of the best NFL betting sites, lists a bevy of ‘Next Team’ player odds. In the midst of this tampering period, however, only Stefon Diggs, who is under contract with the Buffalo Bills, has odds posted for the possibility of being traded. Oddsmakers see smoke though, as Diggs is expected to remain in Buffalo (-350 at DraftKings).

Where I can attack the NFL offseason 2024 with NFL offseason predictions is on the ‘Team Specials’ market at DraftKings. At the time of writing, three specials are posted, featuring the Falcons/Kirk Cousins, the Steelers/Russell Wilson and the Eagles/Saquon Barkley.

With Cousins and Wilson, you can bet on a series of individual accomplishments with their new teams. Instead, I am taking my chances with a Saquon Barkley special against his former team.

Barkley was a mega superstar in college football at Penn State, and now he returns to Pennsylvania to play for the Eagles, the bitter rival of his former New York Giants. Former Giants running back Tiki Barber was quick to call out Barkley on social media, which can only fuel the flame for Barkley to dominate New York this upcoming season.

Barkley has been deprived of his potential in New York with a weak offensive line and skill players around him, yet still managed to become one of the most dangerous backs in football. Despite the Eagles’ struggles to finish the 223-24 season, plus Jason Kelce’s ensuing retirement, the Eagles’ weapons and line provide a massive boost for Barkley, and he has the chance to cement his legacy in Philly.

Take Saquon Barkley to Score 3+ Regular Season TDs vs. NY Giants (+275 at DraftKings) 🎯 to get in on the NFL offseason 2024 betting action and fulfill the best of my NFL offseason predictions.
