The Matchup: The Bears try for their first winning streak since 2021 with Tyson Bagent the likely starter for the second straight week due to Justin Fields' thumb dislocation. Bagent authored a 30-12 victory over the Los Angeles Raiderson Sunday to end a 10-game home losing streak. The Chargers are comuing off a 31-17 loss to the Chiefs in whch they failed to score in the game's final 37:54. It was their second straight loss since beating the Raiders at home 24-17.
The Series: The 14th overall meeting. The Bears lead the series 7-6. The Chargers won the last game 17-16 at Soldier Field in 2019 when Eddy Piniero missed a 41-yard field goal with four seconds remaining.
The Coaches: Bears coach Matt Eberflus is 5-19 in his second season and has not faced the Chargers. Chargers coach Brandon Staley is 21-19 in his third season and has not faced the Bears, a team he coached for as an assistant from 2017-18.

Last Week: The Bears had 21-of-29 for 162 yards with a TD from QB Tyson Bagent in his first NFL start and 89 yards with two rushing TDs and a TD catch from D'Onta Foreman to beat the Las Vegas Raiders 30-12. Jaylon Johnson intercepted two passes and Tremaine Edmunds added an interception.
The Chargers were tied at 17-17 but Justin Herbert struggled in the second half by completing 7 of 16 for 100 yards with two interceptions and the Chiefs won behind four TD passes by Patrick Mahomes.
Notable: Bagent, the undrafted Division II QB from Shepherd, became the first Bears rookie QB to win his first start since Craig Krenzel in 2004. ... Herbert was sacked five times by Kansas City last week. ... Third-year receiver Josh Palmer has emerged a Chargers threat with Mike Willliams out for the year due to an ACL tear. He has 20 catches for 353 yards and a TD. ... The Chargers defense has held four of its six opponents below 100 yards rushing and no one has run for more than 141 yards against them. ... The Chargers have five turnovers, tied for second fewest in the league, and have recovered six fumbles, tied for third most. ... The Bears are third in sacks allowed with 27. ... Rookie CB Tyrique Stevenson lowered his passer rating against when targeted from 140.0 to 114.0 in the last game.
