Key Individual Matchups
Bears CB Jaylon Johnson vs. Raiders WR Davante Adams
They didnt face each other last year but when Adams was in Green Bay there was no doubt he ruled no matter who the Bears put on him. Adams has 81 catches for 1,024 yards and 10 TDs against the Bears and with Johnson on him all over the field in 2021 he had 14 receptions for 210 yards and two TDs. Adams is 6-1, 215 and Johnson 6-foot, 196. Johnson has one career interception.
Bears RT Darnell Wright vs. Raiders DE Maxx Crosby
Crosby, the fourth-round pick from Eastern Michigan, has 5 1/2 sacks and eight tackles for loss this season. he also has eight QB hits and a tipped pass. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound edge rusher has one sack and one tackle for loss in two games against the Bears, both of those plays coming in London in 2019. Wright has allowed four sacks and committed three penalties on 379 snaps this season. Pro Football Focus grades him the best Bears offensive lineman this season and 29th among 73 offensive tackles graded in the league. Wright has a shoulder injury he is nursing while Crosby was on the injury report this week with a knee issue but was taken off the injury report at week's end.
Bears NT Andrew Billings vs. Raiders RG Greg Van Roten
Van Roten, who is 6-3, 305, is a former Buffalo Bills and Packers lineman who has allowed a sack but hasn't committed a penalty this year. He is graded as the 10th best guard overall and fourth best blocking the pass by PFF. Billings is a former Raiders defensive lineman who is graded 30th overall of 123 interior defensive linemen. The 6-1,311-pounder has 11 tackles, two for loss and has been a key in the Bears run defense ranking eighth overall.
Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson vs Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers
If Jaylon Johnson is to follow Davante Adams all over the field, it's going to leave Stevenson covering Meyers, the former Patriots big-play receiver who has a knack for getting wide open but sometimes hasn't had the greatest hands. Stevenson has given up four TD passes in his rookie season and has a 140.7 passer rating against when targeted, with 69.7% completions allowed (23 of33) when targeted. He's giving up 14.1 yards per completion, as well. Stevenson can make big pass breakups on occasion but has struggled. The 6-2, 200-pound Meyers has been targeted 43 times with 30 catches and 335 yards and four TDs. Stevenson must stop Meyers himself if the Bears are going to devote special attention to the other wide receiver.
Bears WR DJ Moore vs. Raiders CB Marcus Peters
Marcus Peters has a 102.3 passer rating against with one TD allowed and 25 of 39 completions (64.1%). He had two strong seasons but has been so-so in coverage the last two years and last year allowed seven TD passes. Peters is a better size matchup for Moore at 6-foot, 197, because the hot Raiders cornerback is Amik Robertson, but at 5-8, the Raiders are unlikely to want that matchup, and CB Nate Hobbs is out, injured. Moore had a down game last week with five catches but lit it up for two straight weeks with 361 yards receiving on 16 catches and four TDs.
Bears TE Cole Kmet vs. Raiders LB Robert Spillane
When he's working over the middle, Kmet will meet up with Spillane and enjoys about a 5-inch height advantage and 31 pounds edge. Spillane, from Oak Park and Fenwick High, leads the Raiders in tackles with 49 and has been solid against the pass with an excellent 50.2 passer rating against. He's giving up catches, 14 out of 20 targets so far. Kmet is coming off a two-catch game for 9 yards and the Bears are looking for him to bounce back. He has averagged only 4.5 and 8.4 yards on catches the last two weeks.
