Bears roster moves on Monday included one name who could make the offensive line situation even more competitive.

While officially announcing they had signed running back Darrynton Evans off the Miami practice squad, they also released defensive lineman Deslin Alexandre from the practice squad and signed quarterback Nathan Peterman to it.

Peterman had been released just before the Bears played Washington so they could use his roster spot.

The Bears, as expected, have designated nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon for possible return from injured reserve after he had a broken hand that required surgery and had been out since the season opener.

The surprise name for return is center Doug Kramer.

During the final preseason game, Kramer left with a leg injury and was put on injured reserve to start the season. It was the second straight year the 2022 sixth-round draft pick from Illinois went on injured reserve to start the season.

However, last year he was done for the season.

The Bears didn't need to consider Kramer for return if they were satisified with the center position. They could have left him on IR.

According to Pro Football Focus grades, center Lucas Patrick is ranked 34th out of 36 NFL centers.

Patrick suffered a possible concussion and left Thursday's win over Washington. When he left, Cody Whitehair moved from guard to center and Teven Jenkins returned to play 37 snaps at left guard.

Whitehair has been graded 65th out of 78 guards this year. The Bears originally intended on using Whitehair at center and not Patrick, until Jenkins suffered calf injuries in preseason.
