The Bears added another defensive coach to their staff with the announced hiring of Matt Pees as analyst-advance/special projects.

Pees has been on the Falcons and Titans staffs in the past. He'll have a role in analyzing future opponents' offensive film.

Pees has been with the Falcons the last three years as defensive assistant and before that was with the Titans as a defensive assistant and quality control coach working primarily with the defensive line for two seasons. He spent eight years as a high school coach.

Atlanta's defense last year had 42 sacks, sixth most in franchise history and 21 more than they had in 2022. The Falcons defensae led the NFL in fewest penalty yards and allowed the second-fewest second-half points (7.9/game) last year.

Last season, the Bears brought in former Carolina defensive coordinator Phil Snow for similar a similar role.
