The Bears clarified the status of their injured players on Sunday while nothing similar was forthcoming from the Vikings on injured wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Tackle Larry Borom, running back D'Onta Foreman and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson have been downgraded to out for the game with the Vikings and didn't make the trip to Minnesota.

Borom was ill all week. Foreman had practiced on a limited basis but has a lower leg injury that is limiting his ability. Stevenson has an ankle injury suffered on Saturday at practice.

As a result, Terell Smith is the likely starter on the defense's left side at cornerback,

Khalil Herbert will be starting at running back for the first time since the Bears beat Washington 40-20 on Oct. 5. Herbert returned last week from an ankle injury but Foreman started and Herbert was in for 43% of the plays with 35 yards gained on 16 rushing attempts.

The game against Washington was also the last start for Smith, who has started twice. He was suffering from mononucleosis and went to the sideline after that win. He also started the game against Denver.

Although Borom is not a starter, he is important as the swing tackle if there is an injury to Braxton Jones or Darnell Wright. They have no other tackle on the 53-man roster and likely would need to bring up Aviante Collins from the practice squad for the game.

While Jefferson's status is unchanged at questionable, there was more information on him through the unofficial route.

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting Jefferson is unlikely to play.
