It will come as no surprise to anyone who follows the NFL, but Caleb Williams will not throw at the NFL Scouting Combine.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Sunday night reported Williams would miss the throwing aspect of the combine. Nor will he do any of the other workouts.

Instead, he will wait until the USC pro day slated for March 20.

Williams is expected to be the No. 1 pick and the Bears own the top pick thanks to a trrade last year with Carolina.

Bryce Young did not throw at the combine last year and none of the quarterbacks chosen first overall have taken part in the passing portion of the combine since Baker Mayfield did it in 2018.

Prior to that it was not common for quarterbacks to miss the workouts. Jared Goff and Jameis Winston threw but Andrew Luck only did other aspects of the workout and did not throw. But Cam Newton had thrown in 2011, the yearr before Luck was drafted.

Not all pro days have been finalized and reported yet but they can begin March 7.

Georgia's is March 13, Alabama's March 20, Notre Dame's March 21, Mississippi's March 28, Michigan's March 22, Purdue's March 7 and Arizona's March 14. The Big 12 will hold a common combine or pro day over a period of days for all conference schools at the Dallas Cowboys training camp facility in Frisco, Texas from March 27-30.
