The Bears are down another big receiver but this time it's not through a trade like with Chase Claypool.

Wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring issue. Running back Khalil Herbert also went on IR with the ankle injury he suffered in last week's game.

Herbert going on IR was expected but St. Brown's status wasn't known. Like Herbert, he was unable to practice this week.

To take up one of the roster spots, the Bears promoted quarterback Nathan Peterman from injured reserve.

Without the 6-foot-5, 214-pound St. Brown, the Bears will have Velus Jones Jr., Tyler Scott and punt returner Trent Taylor behind starters DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney.

Scott is a rookie with three receptions. Jones had seven catches as a rookie last year but none this year. And Taylor was acquired mainly for punt return duties but does have 87 career receptions with San Francisco and Cincinnati.

This week the Bears signed another big receiver to their practice squad, 6-foot-6 Collin Johnson.
