The Bills defense has spent the week preparing for a trio of quarterbacks that could start for their week nine match up against Washington.

On Friday, they got their answer - first round pick Dwayne Haskins will make his first career start.

Washington starter Case Keenum suffered an injury in the Redskins 19-9 loss to the Vikings last week and has remained in the concussion protocol - opening the door for Haskins to start. Veteran signal caller Colt McCoy will serve as Washington's back up.

So far this season, Haskins has appeared in two games for the Redskins. Against the Giants he went 9/17 passing for 107 yards - he also threw three interceptions. Last week when he came in in relief against Minnesota he threw for 33 yards and another interception. He was sacked twice in both of those games.

Haskins will face a tough test against Buffalo who ranks third in passing defense - giving up only 194 yards per game. It's also a Bills team that is looking to rebound after being smothered by the Eagles 31-13.

In the loss, however, the Bills gave up over 200 yards rushing to Philly, and three rushing touchdowns. Given Haskins' shaky passing attempts so far, the Redskins plan to also turn to the the ground game in Orchard Park.

Haskins was the Redskins first round pick in this year's draft, selected 15th overall out of Ohio State where he won Big Ten Player of the Year.

Haskins led the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record in their 2018 season where he threw for 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns. He would go on to be a Heisman Trophy finalist.

The Bills (5-2) host the Redskins (1-7) on Sunday at 1 p.m. at New Era Field.
