Bills TE Dalton Kincaid 'Definitely Rusty' After Offseason Back Injury

Working his way back from an offseason back injury, rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid is excited to be getting in his first practices with the Buffalo Bills.

When the Buffalo Bills traded up to select tight end Dalton Kincaid out of Utah in last month's draft, it signaled that the organization has plenty of confidence in the play-maker despite his injury status.

The ailment in question is a back injury that Kincaid suffered in December, which kept him sidelined during the pre-draft process. While he has been sidelined this offseason due to said injury, Kincaid detailed how he feels going through rookie minicamp.

"I feel good," Kincaid said Friday. "Definitely rusty in terms of not being able to do as much as I wanted to the last couple months. But I felt really good out there. More than anything, it was just a lot of fun being out there and running around the field and playing football again."

But one look at his stats from when he was healthy, and it is not hard to see the allure of Kincaid in Buffalo's offense. His final season with the Utes saw him record 70 receptions for 890 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Shaking off the rust will take some time for the rookie, but he's confident that he will as he practices more this offseason.

"I haven't practiced in six months really, so being out there in that environment was a little different," Kincaid said. "I was a little rusty but the rust hopefully will come off pretty soon and it will get a little bit easier."

It may not be any time soon before we see a fully-healthy Kincaid, as the Bills are not wanting to risk further injury. However, if he can translate his game from college to the NFL, he could elevate an already potent Buffalo offense.
