Buffalo Bills RB Damien Harris 'Heading In A Good Direction,' Sean McDermott Says

Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris left Sunday night's game after a scary neck injury, but he is seemingly recovering well on Monday.

The Buffalo Bills managed to pull out an ugly 14-9 win over the New York Giants at Highmark Stadium on Sunday night, but there was a time when the game itself didn't seem to matter at all.

Late in the first half, Bills running back Damien Harris suffered an extremely scary neck injury that left him down on the field for several minutes. Harris eventually left the field in an ambulance and had to go to the hospital, with a brief thumbs up to the crowd being the only encouraging sign.

It was a scary moment for everyone watching, both at the venue and at home. The fact that it happened to the Bills of all teams, who just had a similar situation with Damar Hamlin nine months earlier, made its even more frightening.

Thankfully, though, it seems that Harris is going to be OK. Not only did he have movement in his extremities on Sunday night, but according to coach Sean McDermott, the running back is well on his way to recovery.

“It’s my understanding he has full movement,” McDermott told reporters after the game. “Fortunate that he is seemingly heading in a good direction, with the reports we are getting. So I am very thankful to God for that.”

Then on Monday morning, the Bills received another positive update on Harris. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Harris was released from the hospital is going to be "fine," aside from some temporary neck pain.

A 2019 third-round pick out of Alabama, Harris spent the first four seasons of his career with the division-rival New England Patriots before joining the Bills this offseason. So far, Harris has rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in his first season in Buffalo.
