Bills QB Josh Allen Lands in Final 10 of NFL Top 100 Rankings

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen landed in the peer-positioned top 10 in NFL Network's annual countdown but failed to break into the first three among passers.

Josh Allen's placement in the latest edition of the NFL's Top 100 Players, whose final, top batch of players was released this week, continues one of the most bittersweet Buffalo Bills traditions.

On the one hand, Allen's spot in eighth place is yet another reason for Western New Yorkers to be eagerly anticipated the upcoming season. In the list voted upon by his peers, Allen moved up five spots from last summer's rank of 13th.

But, like any Buffalo victory, there's a bit of a catch: in a development that Bills Mafia likely won't address peacefully, Allen is ranked the fourth-best quarterback in the league for the third consecutive season, denied a top-three posting by Patrick Mahomes (No. 1), Jalen Hurts (No. 3), and Joe Burrow (No. 6).

If anything, the posting should give Allen and the Bills, looking to finally earn something to show for creating one of the NFL's longest active playoff streaks,

"Since Allen joined the Bills, Buffalo has had a string of successful seasons not seen by the franchise since the '90s, and in 2022, he led his team to a 13-3 record and yet another AFC East crown," NFL.com says of Allen in its posting of the Top 100. "Individually, Allen had his third straight season of at least 4,000 passing yards and became the only player in NFL history to record at least 35 passing and five rushing touchdowns in three different seasons, per NFL Research."

On the backs of yet another postseason trip, Buffalo was once again well-represented on the Top 100: the Bills posted four players in this year's group as Stefon Diggs was eight spots behind his quarterback in 16th while defenders Jordan Poyer and Matt Milano respectively placed 57th and 69th.

Their AFC East brethren, however, apparently got tired of Buffalo's bullying, and found their own representation through transactional means: the arrival of Aaron Rodgers at 51st allowed the New York Jets to get past the Bills with five names while the Miami Dolphins have six thanks to Jalen Ramsey in 36th place.

Allen and his peer-listed best return to action on Saturday when the Bills open a three-game preseason slate against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday afternoon (1 p.m. ET, WIVB).
