NFL Mock Draft: Bills Build Offense Around QB Josh Allen With Pair of Picks

Will the Buffalo Bills go all in on improving the offense and getting quarterback Josh Allen more help in the 2024 NFL Draft?

Any mock draft with the Buffalo Bills going all in on getting Josh Allen more help doesn't need much explanation, and investing further into the franchise quarterback is the path CBS Sports took.

In CBS Sports' two-round mock draft, the Bills drafted Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton in the first round and Oregon receiver Troy Franklin in the second. CBS Sports compared Guyton's tools to Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Anton Harrison, who was taken in the first round of last year's draft.

Troy Franklin.

Troy Franklin.

"Tyler Guyton is an unfinished product, but he's similar to Anton Harrison in that he has first-round traits that make him a worthwhile project," CBS Sports writes. "Guyton's ceiling is much higher than Spencer Brown, and his selection is a way to indirectly invest in Josh Allen."

Guyton didn't allow a single sack in 2023, though Pro Football Focus credited the 6-foot-7, 328-pound lineman with allowing three quarterback hits and nine hurries. He played in 663 snaps and was given a 63.7 grade from PFF.

The Bills' offensive line allowed the fewest sacks last season with 24, though Allen deserves some credit for his ability to extend plays with his legs and scramble out of pressure. Right tackle Spencer Brown improved his grade by 17 points from 2022 to 2023, as PFF gave him a grade of 68.1 last season. He was also credited with allowing five sacks and drawing nine penalties.

If Buffalo sees a higher upside with Guyton than Brown, pulling the trigger on taking the Oklahoma offensive tackle makes sense. Guyton and last year's second-round pick, O'Cyrus Torrence, could anchor the right side of the offensive line for years to come.

Getting Franklin at the end of the second round would be a steal for the Bills. Even taking him at No. 28 overall wouldn't draw much scrutiny.

The 6-foot-3, 187-pound Oregon receiver had 81 catches for 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns. His play led to him making the All-Pac-12 first team. With his speed and height, he could be the perfect complement to Stefon Diggs and replacement for Gabe Davis if he leaves in free agency.

If getting Allen more help is the goal this offseason, the Bills can do much worse than landing Guyton and Franklin. If the Bills walk away from the draft with a top-end offensive tackle and receiver, they may be the missing pieces Allen needs to finally get over the hump.
