It has been more than a week since Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller was arrested by police near Dallas on the charge of allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and the mother of his children, who says she is pregnant.

But as we right this, the NFL has not taken action. The Bills have not taken action. And Miller himself, the NFL's active leader in sacks and a two-time Super Bowl winner, who is in his second season with Buffalo, has only offered two words when asked by the media for his position on the arrest.

"Not today," was Miller's two-word response when approached by reporters at the end of the week as the 6-6 Bills prepare to face the 8-4 Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Miller and the Bills are coming off a bye week filled by away-from-the-field controversy. This week, head coach Sean McDermott is coming under scrutiny for team pep talks that seemed to celebrate the "teamwork'' of the 9/11 terrorists.

And last week, Miller was forced to turn himself in to police after he was charged with an alleged assault against his girlfriend that according to police included him choking her, pulling out a chunk of her hair and shoving her.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane on Wednesday said the franchise has opted to allow the legal process play out while it allows Miller to practice and continue playing.

If found guilty, the 34-year-old Miller faces a charge of third-degree felony assault of a pregnant woman, which can be punishable by a prison sentence of two to 10 years.

The NFL has issued a statement saying the league is continuing to gather information and is in part following the lead of the system of jurisprudence. The girlfriend, meanwhile, has attempted to recant her story - and is contradicting her own frightening 911 call - by saying, “No one assaulted anyone. This is insane. And sad. ... Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous.”
