Broncos Promote WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey to Active Roster

The Sean Payton favorite is back on the 53.

The curious case of Lil'Jordan Humphrey took another turn Wednesday as the Denver Broncos promoted the veteran wide receiver to the active roster, the team announced.

WR Michael Bandy was signed to the practice squad in a corresponding transaction.

A favorite of head coach Sean Payton from their time with the Saints, Humphrey originally joined Denver in March and was released during final cuts in August. He landed on the taxi squad, from which he was elevated after the season opener.

Humphrey was pink-slipped prior to last Thursday's game at Kansas City and again returned via the practice squad.

Running as a backup in Payton's offense, Humphrey has totaled four catches for 26 yards and a touchdown across all six appearances this year — 112 snaps in total.

“He’s smart, he’s tough and he’s got strong hands," Payton said on Sept. 13. "He can block, so he is a physical receiver. There is a size element to what he does. He operates pretty well in tight quarters. We don’t put him out wide all of the time. We’ll usually have him in the slot. We can move him around, but you know exactly what you are getting."
