Broncos Sign Former Browns DB Tanner McCalister to Future Deal

McCalister went undrafted out of Ohio State in 2023.

Adding to its 2024 offseason roster, the Denver Broncos signed defensive back Tanner McCalister to a reserve/future contract, the team announced Monday.

McCalister, 24, went undrafted out of Ohio State last April and spent his rookie campaign with the Cleveland Browns, primarily on the practice squad. He appeared in three games, notching two combined tackles across 56 snaps.

As a collegian, the 5-foot-11, 191-pound defender compiled 20 solo stops, three interceptions, and a pass breakup during his final season with the Buckeyes. This, after transferring from Oklahoma State for whom he totaled 123 tackles, 12 pass deflections, and one INT from 2018-2021.

"Effective facing the action, remains disciplined with assignments, and has a quick closing burst," Pro Football Network draft guru Tony Pauline wrote of McCalister. "Reads the quarterback’s eyes, then makes his move to the throw, and possesses good hands for the interception. Quick to read and diagnose and gives effort against the run. Wraps up tackling and brings opponents down in the open field."
