Broncos Waive OT Hunter Thedford with Injury Settlement
In a corresponding roster move after signing offensive tackle Cam Fleming, the Denver Broncos waived OT Hunter Thedford, the team announced Wednesday.
Per beat reporter Chris Tomasson, Thedford was waived with an injury settlement.
"Hunter Thedford had a hip flexor injury, which would only have kept him out about a week," Tomasson tweeted. "So he got one week of offseason pay (basically per diem) in his injury settlement."
A 2020 undrafted free agent, Thedford — who's yet to make a regular-season appearance — joined Denver last year following stints with the Detroit Lions, the Pittsburgh Maulers of the United States Football League, and the New England Patriots. He inked a reserve/futures contract in January.
Thedford, 26, began his collegiate career as a defensive end at Southern Methodist University before transferring to Utah, where the 6-foot-6, 325-pounder then converted to tight end, catching five passes for 48 scoreless yards across eight games.
The Broncos brought back Fleming, with the organization since 2021, to function as the primary swing tackle behind locked-in starting LT Garett Bolles and RT Mike McGlinchey.
The club also has OTs Isaiah Prince, Christian DiLauro, Demontrey Jacobs, and Alex Palczewski listed among its backups.
