Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for the Broncos, tragedy strikes.

Oh, man. When it rains it pours.

On the heels of the Denver Broncos blowing a 14-point lead and losing their fourth game of the season, Adam Schefter breaks some knews that is likely to bring Broncos Country to its knees.

On Monday, head coach Vic Fangio confirmed Schefter's report. Chubb is done for the year.

I'm not sure it could get much worse than this.

The Broncos are 0-4 and one of the few players that gives the team hope for the future has to be shut down for the balance of the season.

My heart goes out to Chubb, who finally got on the board in Week 4 with a sack. Chubb had been great in run support to open the season, despite not being able to get home and notch a sack through the first three games.

Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chubb left the game a couple of different times, including making a trip to the locker room, but returned to the field of play. We thought cramps were the culprit but it turns out, Chubb tore his ACL.

The Broncos' season has really taken a sad turn for the worst-case scenario. At this stage, the front office would be wise to get out in front of this snowballing situation and telegraph to the fans that it recognizes where this team is at.

Pick up the phone, move some of the vets who are in a contract year and the Broncos don't have a plan for beyond 2019. Build for the future and get the young players some live-bullet experience so the team knows where they stand in the needs department.

John Elway thought he'd reloaded the cupboard but this team is nowhere near talented enough to compete and the hits on the injury front just keep coming.

Undrafted rookie Malik Reed will be leaned on to start moving forward opposite of Von Miller. Reed notched his first career sack in Week 4.

On Monday, Fangio said the Broncos will use a committee approach to replace Chubb's production and will take a look to see what type of talent is out there on the street.
