Report: Fangio Struggling to Connect With Players & Coaches in Year One With Broncos

A Sunday morning report rocked Broncos Country as the team is on the road to take on the Vikings.

This season has been a rough one for the Denver Broncos. But despite sitting at 3-6, and starting the season 0-4, the general feeling in the Mile High City is that the Broncos are trending in the right direction with Vic Fangio at the helm.

The national perspective on the Broncos, we learned on Sunday, is a bit different.

Fangio, 61, is in his first year as a head coach. He is the Broncos' 17th head coach in team history but at his age, it's not often that a coach receives his first head-man opportunity that late in his career.

In the case of Fangio, his brutally honest, no B.S. approach was a refreshing change after the dissembling and at times patently incompetent approach of his predecessor Vance Joseph. Fangio is up-front and direct, and always honest, even if he doesn't completely spill the beans on issues he'd rather keep behind closed doors.

However, a Jason La Canfora report on Sunday morning brought to the fore some concerning issues that had perhaps been previously protected behind Dove Valley walls.

La Canfora reports, per multiple sources in Denver, that Fangio has struggled to connect with players and coaches thus far. La Canfora reports that Fangio's "gruff" demeanor has rubbed people inside the building "the wrong way".

We also learned that Fangio has been very domineering as head coach when it comes to the play-calling of first-time NFL offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

Lines of communication have been strained, and Fangio has been quick to dispute play calls and come across as overbearing on the headsets, sources said, which has created issues in-game and otherwise.

This article is meant to draw your attention to the La Canfora report. We at Mile High Huddle will be analyzing the ramifications and implications of the report following the game.

My suggestion is that fans take time to read the La Canfora article but don't jump to conclusions. The timing of this report is curious, and makes me wonder about the veracity of the claims therein.
