Jerry Jeudy Nukes Broncos Legend From Orbit After 'Bust' Comments

The former Denver Broncos receiver sounded off against a team legend.

The Denver Broncos opted to shake up their receiver room to start this turbulent offseason by trading the former Alabama product Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round pick, and now some former members of the franchise are beginning to unleash their thoughts on the move as a result.

One of which was former Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth, who won two rings with Denver during their successful stretch in the 1990s. He posted a video to X on March 1 where he spoke about the Broncos' recent deal to send Jeudy to the Browns, voicing some relief as the two sides parted ways:

“I been telling you for the last two years what a bust Jerry Jeudy is at the wide receiver position," Schlereth said. "Well, today he was traded to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth- and sixth-round pick, and, you know, I got this from you guys all the time, ‘But he’s so quick in and out of breaks, he’s a great route runner.’ Yeah, he’s open after the quarterback has already gone through the progression.”

Jeudy was brought into Denver during the first-round of the 2020 NFL Draft, however failed to meet his lofty expectations as a top receiver prospect in the class. In his time with the Broncos, he did not reach over 1,000 receiving yards in a season, posting 758 yards and two touchdowns for his previous campaign in 2023.

Schlereth continued to hammer onto Jeudy in the video posted to his X account, touting the four-year veteran receiver as "just not a great football player":

“And as far as a football player, he’s just not a great football player. Doesn’t run secondary routes well to attract coverage, drops the football, doesn’t block. Good riddance. Listen, that’s not the kind of player you need here in Denver to rebuild this thing. I, for one, am glad he’s gone. But I tell you this, I’ll never forget you Jimmy Jeudy. All the best.”

With that, Jeudy wrote his reponse to Schlereth in a tweet ultimately shrugging off the remarks:

“Only if your opinion mattered. Hating ass due #Bagseason 💰 💰 💰. Ya’ll go give this lame ass dude some attention.”

Now, the Broncos can look ahead to the upcoming draft to potentially bring in some new pass-catching talent to assist the prospective new starter to take the reigns for 2024. While guys who've been productive like Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick, and Marvin Mims make for a unit that's at least passable for the coming season, don't count out this front office choosing to add some more juice for this offense in the weeks approaching.

As for Jeudy, the focus lying ahead will be on how to build a better resume in Cleveland alongside his new quarterback, Deshaun Watson. At 24 years of age, some lingering potential for his career still remains, but it'll have to come from a massive performance during this next year with the Browns.

While Broncos fans may be taking a deep breath now as a result of the deal, only time will tell if it was the correct move to make for the Mile High.
