Report: Broncos increasingly 'doubtful' CB Bryce Callahan will play vs. Raiders

Cornerback Bryce Callahan was signed during the second wave of free agency by the Denver Broncos. Making about $7 million per year in Denver, the reason Callahan likely lingered on the open market for the better part of a week was because of teams' doubts about his previously injured foot.
Callahan posted a Pro Bowl-caliber 2018 campaign for the Chicago Bears before breaking his foot and finishing the final two games on injured reserve. With Vic Fangio in the fold, the Broncos brought Callahan in to team him up with fellow free-agent acquisition Kareem Jackson and four-time Pro Bowler Chris Harris, Jr.
Alas, Callahan suffered a setback in his recovery from that foot injury on July 28 when the Broncos held a training camp scrimmage at Mile High Stadium. Subsequently, Callahan did not appear in one of the team's five preseason contests.
The hope was that by being cautious, the Broncos would reap the reward of having Callahan ready to go come Week 1. But according to a report on Facebook by Denver7's Troy Renck, Callahan might not play on Monday night at the Oakland Raiders.
"Talked to multiple sources about Denver Broncos cornerback Bryce Callahan and his foot injury. There is increasing doubt he plays."
If Callahan indeed misses Monday night's Divisional battle, it probably wouldn't be the end of the world. The Raiders' released Antonio Brown over the weekend, leaving free-agent acquisition Tyrell Williams as the only viable receiving threat at QB Derek Carr's disposal.
Of course, the Raiders have other wideouts ready to go but with the collection of Chris Harris, Jr., Isaac Yiadom, De'Vante Bausby, along with newcomers Duke Dawson and Davante Harris, the Broncos should be able to handle their business in the secondary.
With the Chicago Bears coming to Denver for Week 2, perhaps the best course of action would be for the team to play it safe and rest Callahan, who is officially listed as 'questionable' on the Week 1 injury report. As it relates to Monday night, Callahan's situation is likely to be a game-time decision, as the team plans to let him test it out on the field during warmups.
