Former WR Brandon Marshall Makes Bold Broncos Prediction for 2023

In this story:
Early into the free agency process, Denver Broncos GM George Paton wasn't shy about splashing the Walton/Penner group's money around. The Broncos have been mostly lauded for their free-agent additions in 2023.
Now that the dust has settled on the initial flurry of signings, the focus around the league begins turning to how the front office maneuvers might translate into some extra wins come the football season.
Ex-Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall still holds the NFL record for catches in a game with 21 grabs, which is enough cache for ears to perk up when he makes bullish predictions. In the former six-time Pro Bowler's opinion, the Broncos' significant splurge in the free-agent market will pay off handsomely for them in 2023.
"They're going to get off to a fast start and they're going to sustain it," Marshall said via the I AM ATHLETE podcast.
Marshall is confidently forecasting that Sean Payton will hit the ground running in Denver and sustain it through the first three-quarters of his maiden campaign as head coach. Marshall even predicts that the Broncos will get to the 10-win mark rather quickly, and that would massively increase the chances of ending their long-standing playoff drought, which dates back to 2015.
The way Marshall sees it, Payton's arrival is the Broncos' most important addition to the team this offseason, and that's despite complementing their additional spending spree on quality starters.
"Sean Payton, legendary, Hall-of-Fame coach and play caller," Marshall said. "They go get stability on the offensive line and they make a few small moves, but very powerful moves, in the defensive side."
Undoubtedly, Payton will need all those legendary coaching skills to reboot the Broncos', and most importantly, his starting quarterback Russell Wilson. How effective Payton has been in identifying the hogs upfront who can more competently protect Wilson in the pocket and allow him the additional time to get the ball downfield will be pivotal.
Marshall is quite clearly a firm believer in Payton's abilities to do just that, but that being said, the proof of the pudding is always in the eating of it.
