Broncos to Pick 12th Overall in 2024 NFL Draft

The Denver Broncos will soon be on the clock.

Following Sunday's season-ending loss to the Raiders, finishing with an 8-9 overall record, the Broncos have been locked into the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

This will represent the first time since 2021 that Denver owned a Day 1 selection, after consecutive offseason trades for quarterback Russell Wilson and head coach Sean Payton. It's also the first time since 2009 they held No. 12 overall.

That year, the Broncos used the choice on running back Knowshon Moreno. This year, there's no telling where they'll go.

The most logical possibility is QB, likely deciding between the second tier of Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix, and JJ McCarthy. But, truth be told, the Broncos — lacking talent across the board — could take the best available player regardless of position.

For example, in a new mock draft released Monday, Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema projected Alabama edge rusher Dallas Turner to the orange and blue.

"Quarterback is the Broncos' top need, but it’s hard to justify that here after five are off the board. (I believe Nix, Penix and [Jayden] Daniels will certainly be Broncos targets)," Sikkema wrote. "Turner has the best combination of size, speed and production in this year’s edge rusher class, sporting a 90.6 pass-rush grade on true pass sets over the past two seasons."
