The Denver Broncos added a veritable behemoth to their defensive front seven, signing nose tackle Tyler Lancaster, the team announced Tuesday.

Undrafted in 2018, Lancaster spent his first four seasons with the Packers, notching 59 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble across 59 appearances (21 starts). He also had a four-month stint with the Raiders last year, released in September after suffering an injury.

The 6-foot-3, 313-pound lineman played collegiately at Northwestern. He was named a captain ahead of his senior campaign and set career-highs in tackles (40), TFLs (9.5), and sacks (2), earning All-Big Ten honorable mention accolades.

"Lancaster has elite strength and leverage to his game, which makes it nearly impossible for offensive linemen to move him," one scouting report reads. "He often draws double-teams and shifted protections, which creates space for other rushers to attack the quarterback.

"Lancaster certainly has the strength, power and agility to be a solid NFL defensive lineman if he gets the chance."

As Organized Team Activities kick off, Lancaster, 28, should compete with Broncos veteran Mike Purcell and undrafted rookie PJ Mustipher for backup snaps behind starting NT D.J. Jones.
