In a corresponding roster move after waiving kicker Elliott Fry, the Denver Broncos signed rookie long snapper Jack Landherr, the team announced Tuesday.

Landherr (6-1, 238) entered the NFL in April as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA, where he snapped for four seasons. In 2022, he was named a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, given to the nation's top snapper, per his Bruins bio.

"Landherr wound up starting the next 40 games for UCLA on field goals and extra points, never missing a contest after taking over in late September of 2019," Sam Connon of All Bruins wrote last December. "His very first start came in the Bruins' iconic 32-point comeback victory over Washington State, which required eight extra points and one field goal without a single miss.

"In the first 15 games of the Chip Kelly era, UCLA went 3-12. In the next 40 games – all of which Landherr started in – they went 24-16."

Landherr presumably will compete with incumbent Broncos LS Mitch Fraboni for the starting job. The two were listed as co-starters on the club's latest unofficial depth chart.

Landherr's signing came on the heels of Denver's preseason loss to the Cardinals during which Fry and fellow K Brett Maher missed a combined three field goals (one block). Fraboni was the deep-snapper on each miss.

"We obviously have to be better in that unit. ... We will look at the film," head coach Sean Payton said in his post-game press conference.
