Report: Broncos Host SMU WR Rashee Rice on Pre-Draft Visit

The Denver Broncos recently met with Southern Methodist University wide receiver Rashee Rice on a pre-draft visit, Underdog Fantasy's Josh Norris reported Thursday.

Rice, 23, was a productive pass-catcher during his four seasons in the Mustangs program, snagging 233 balls for 3,111 yards and 25 touchdowns. He earned first-team All-AAC honors in 2022 after posting career highs across the board — receptions (96), yards (1,355), and scores (10).

The 6-foot-1, 204-pound wideout notched a 4.51 forty-time and 41-inch vertical jump at February's Scouting Combine.

"Talented but enigmatic receiver with game tape that shows a lack of consistency and impressive ball skills," NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote in his scouting profile. "Rice has enough top-end speed to attack vertically but has a tendency for nonchalant running on intermediate routes and zone-beaters underneath. In one game you might see terrific ball-tracking and jump-ball victories followed by frustrating drops and a lack of physicality in fighting back on contested catches. The route inefficiencies can be cleaned up, but Rice must play with better consistency and urgency to find long-term NFL reps."

Projected to come off the board in Round 3 — for which Denver owns the Nos. 67 and 68 picks — Rice would further bolster an already crowded WR room featuring Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, and KJ Hamler.
