The Denver Broncos are back at Centura Health Training Center to hold a mandatory minicamp. The minicamp goes from Tuesday through Thursday, and then the Broncos hit the long six-week NFL summer.

As the Broncos have been wont to do under new head coach Sean Payton, the team is holding tryouts for a handful of players at this minicamp. Aric DiLalla of the team website reported that eight players will try out.

Per DiLalla, here's the list of try-out players today:

  • K Randy Bullock
  • WR Jahcour Pearson
  • RB Benny Snell Jr.
  • CB Darren Evans
  • RB Ryan Nall
  • WR Jerreth Sterns
  • LB Austin Ajiake
  • LS Jack Landherr

Of particular note here is the presence of Bullock, the veteran placekicker. He's been in the league since 2012 and has kicked for seven NFL teams, including the Tennessee Titans most recently (2021-22).

Bullock is 33 years old and holds a career field-goal percentage of 83.4. Brandon McManus, whom the Broncos released last month, holds an 81.4 field-goal percentage, while Elliott Fry, the kicker Denver signed a couple of weeks back, has connected on 83.3% of his field-goal tries.

Bullock has experience, but it's worth mentioning that he's not very accurate from 50-plus yards out, connecting on just 50% of his attempts. McManus kicked 55.5% from 50-plus for his career, while Fry has yet to attempt one in his young career.

Fry has only been in the league since 2021 and has kicked in just three NFL games. He's the epitome of untested, which could be a good thing, depending on how Payton, and his special teams lieutenants Mike Westhoff and Ben Kotwica, views it.

Bullock, meanwhile, is more battle-tested, having kicked in 138 games dating back to 2013. If he aces his try-out, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Broncos host a kicking competition this summer when training camp rolls around.

Stay tuned.
