Broncos' final injury report: 2 ruled out, 5 questionable for Week 4 vs. Jaguars

The Broncos' are pretty banged up heading into Week 4.

The Denver Broncos are poised to enter their Week 4 bout vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars with four starters 'questionable' to play. Unsurprisingly, as head coach Vic Fangio said on Thursday, DB Kareem Jackson, DL Derek Wolfe and LB Josey Jewell are listed as 'questionable', all three of whom are defensive starters. 

On the other side of the ball, FB Andy Janovich is also listed as 'questionable', but in his case, it's actually an encouraging upgrade of sorts. The fourth-year fullback missed the first three games of the season due to the pectoral injury he suffered halfway through the preseason. 

Janovich began practicing again last week and reading the signs, it sounds like there's a solid chance that he might play vs. the Jags. But knowing Fangio — who errs on the side of caution when it comes to game-time decisions — it's probably best not to get your hopes up that Janovich will make his 2019 debut this week. 

Emmanuel Sanders popped up on the injury report earlier this week, as he's been dealing with a quadricep issue. He practiced as a limited participant on all three days this week in preparation for the Jags and according to Coach Fangio, "he's playing". 

OLB Bradley Chubb's knee is something to keep an eye on as the Broncos march through this season, and the same goes for RB Royce Freeman. Freeman got banged up last week in Green Bay but returned to the game and played a really tough defense.

Joseph Jones being listed as 'questionable' falls under the same optimistic progress as Janovich, especially with Jewell's status for Week 4 up in the air. Speaking of 'questionable', that's a good way to characterize the Broncos' depth at off-ball linebacker.

If Jones could suit up this week, great. But my educated guess is that both he and Janovich will sit one last game. 

As for the defensive trio of starters, Jackson probably has the best odds at playing this week. If Wolfe and Jewell do suit up, Coach Fangio said that they'll each be on a 'little bit' of a play count. 

As for Bryce Callahan and Ja'Wuan James, there's nothing new here to update. Callahan will miss another 4-6 weeks after undergoing a procedure two days ago to promote healing in his injured foot. 

James' timetable is still up in the air but after injuring his knee less than a dozen plays into the season-opener, the Broncos have learned to live without him. We don't know when he'll return but he sure is sucking up a huge chunk of the salary cap. 

Of the 'big three' free agents the Broncos signed this past spring, the team has only gotten a return on investment on Jackson thus far and he's listed on the injury report.
