Broncos Injuries: Updates on De'Vante Bausby & Justin Hollins

The Broncos got some relatively good news on the injury front following Week 5's win.

The Denver Broncos went into ROKiT Field and beat the Los Angeles Chargers 20-13. It was a hard-fought battle and a statement performance made by the Broncos.

However, like most NFL games, there were some casualties lost in the muss. First, cornerback De'Vante Bausby suffered a scary neck injury as a result of friendly fire.

Linebacker Alexander Johnson collided with Bausby's neck/head area as both players were attempting to make a tackle and Bausby had to be carted off the field, just 12 snaps into the game. He was taken to a local hospital but by the time the final gun sounded, the news on the Bausby front was good.

“Everything is good to this point," head coach Vic Fangio said after the game. "We’re going to get him another MRI here, and if it comes out the way they like it, he’s going to accompany on us on our trip home. He has movement in all of his extremities. The news up to this point is positive.”

Bausby did, in fact, return to the team in time to make the flight back home to Denver. His prognosis is currently unknown but we'll update you after Fangio speaks on Monday around lunchtime.

In his stead, Duke Dawson received a significant uptick in snaps, as did Davantae Harris, after Isaac Yiadom suffered a meltdown of sorts. Philip Rivers is the type of veteran QB to find the hole in the boat and exploit it and that was Yiadom on Sunday.

Meanwhile, rookie linebacker Justin Hollins also left the game after he appeared to suffer a non-contact injury. He did not return but after the game, Fangio alleviated some concerns by revealing that it appears to be a knee sprain for Hollins.

Malik Reed balled out at the right edge rusher position, opposite of Von Miller. Hollins spelled Reed for a few snaps before he got hurt but Reed played excellent ball in his first career start.

UPDATE: De'Vante Bausby suffered a cervical sprain and will subsequently miss some time. Here's what Coach Fangio said on Monday.

“He is doing good,” Fangio said. “No timetable on his return yet. He’ll definitely miss some time. [I] don’t know if it will be the entire rest of the season or not. [With] these [injurie], the first few days and week will kind of tell the story."

As for Hollins, he's week-to-week with a knee sprain. He could be good to go for Week 6 or he might have to miss a couple games, per Fangio.
