Report: Broncos awarded with four players off waivers, including Andrew Beck & Corey Levin

The Broncos have four new players thanks to the waiver wire, which means the team has to say goodbye to a few guys who made the initial squad.

The Denver Broncos were awarded four players off waivers on Sunday morning. Of the 36 players Denver waived over the weekend, not a single one was claimed by an outside NFL team. 

That kind of tells you where things have stood for the Broncos with regard to depth. In its heyday, GM John Elway's squad was known for it's elite depth. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. 

However, the Broncos are set at the top of each depth chart. Their starting units are replete with talent across the board. Again, it's the roster depth that is the concern, not the first-team units. 

Mike Klis broke the news on each of these waivers claims. Before I get to them, the Broncos correspondingly waived WR River Cracraft, OL Jake Rodgers and LB Josh Watson. Let's get to the claims. 

Brandon Allen, QB: Allen is in his now on his third NFL team since arriving in the league as a Jacksonville sixth-round pick back in 2016. The former Arkansas standout is a great fit for the Broncos' scheme and showed his big-play ability in preseason Game 4 as an L.A. Ram. He's never played an NFL regular-season snap and has zero starts but he does have upside. I was a big fan of his heading into the 2016 draft, despite his 8-7/8-inch hands. He's only 26 years old. 

Andrew Beck, TE: Beck is an undrafted rookie out of Texas who originally signed with New England. He received a guarantee from New England north of $100K but still found himself on the cutting room floor. With Jake Butt headed to IR, the Broncos could use Beck's ability to round out their TE corps and he can also play fullback. 

Corey Levin, C: Levin is a straight up center, though perhaps Mike Munchak can get him to be more. The Broncos need a viable backup center to Connor McGovern and Levin fits the bill. He was a 2017 sixth-round pick of Tennessee's and it sounds like Munchak has been keeping his eye on him. He's appeared in 16 NFL games with one start. He's 25 years old. 

Diontae Spencer, WR: Spencer is a speed demon and former CFL All-Star who has spent time with the Rams and most recently the Steelers. He's got a ton of upside as a returner, which is one of the dynamics the Broncos have been prioritizing on the waiver wire. Spencer will be WR6 and serve as the team's returner. He's 27 years old.
