Browns Injury Updates from Stefanski

Kevin Stefanski gave a couple of injury updates during his media availability before practice on Tuesday. One was a bit puzzling and I attempt to read between the lines to make sense of it.

Cleveland Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski gave a few injury updates to reporters prior to practice during his media availability. The most impactful was Stefanski saying that second year running back Jerome Ford wouldn't practice this week with his hamstring injury. He added that they are hopeful to have him back for week 1 against the Bengals but nothing is certain at this point.

For the team this would seem like a pretty significant development. With roster cutdowns taking place a week from today, the odds that the team will add a player to the running back position have increased dramatically. It wouldn't be ideal to be one injury away from expecting him to carry the entire load. Especially after a hamstring injury that unfortunately has a high percentage risk of re-aggravation.

In another update, Stefanski confirmed that Jack Conklin is still in the concussion protocol but would practice today. This is all a bit puzzling after Sunday when it was believed Conklin was cleared from his concussion he suffered in Philadelphia.

Conklin would later leave practice on Sunday early. It appears that Conklin never left the protocol and was practicing in a manner consistent with it. Additionally, I would assume that the nature of practice today would be more of an install and would require no contact. His availability for Saturday's preseason finale is in question and could be one of the few starters who sit this one out.
