We would assume that Ward has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and is ready to play in the season opener against the Bengals on Sunday barring a setback. We will wait until Kevin Stefanski addresses the media to find out for certain if this is the case.
Ward suffered a concussion during the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs twelve days ago. For Ward concussions have become a major concern moving forward in his career as he has already sustained four heading into his sixth season.
Last season Ward suffered a concussion in the Chargers game that ultimately sidelined him for over a month as he was in the protocol for an elongated amount of time.
This is great news for the Browns as Ward has been a thorn in Joe Burrow’s side in recent matchups. Ward usually draws the assignment of covering Bengals star receiver Jamar Chase.
The biggest highlight of Ward’s career came in a game against the Bengals during the 2021 season. Ward jumped a pass at the goal line and returned it 99 yards for the touchdown. Stay tuned for the teams full injury report that should be released today.
