Grant Carted Off After Opening Kick

In this story:
Professional football can be a brutal game and that fact has never been more apparent than what took place on the opening kickoff of the Cleveland Browns final preseason game against the Chiefs.
Browns wide receiver and kick returner Jakeem Grant was carted off the field after the games opening kickoff. He appears to have suffered another serious leg injury after fielding the games opening kick and returning it out of the end zone.
Grant was playing in a live game for the first time since the 2021 season. He suffered a season ending injury at the start of last year’s training camp when he ruptured his Achilles in practice.
It looked as if he lost his footing after making a cut trying to avoid a tackle. He went down as he was tackled and stayed on the ground grimacing in pain. His leg was later placed in an air cast before being carted off the field. Players from both teams were visibly shaken.
After months of grueling rehab and physical therapy Grant was hopeful to be back as the team’s returner this year. He had slowly worked his way back during training camp to return for the first time today. We will keep you posted as updates are provided.
