The Cleveland Browns are coming off a tough Monday night loss to the Steelers. There were a few specific plays during the 4th quarter that Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson took immediate heat for both during after the game.

Watson will not be subject to any further discipline from two face mask penalties and the subsequent inadvertently bumping the official according to a statement released by the NFL.

In it they stated that:“Officials are called upon to maintain order on the field, and sometimes while performing those duties, there is inadvertent contact between players and officials. In this instance, in their judgment, the contact did not rise to the level of a foul. All of those situations will be reviewed for potential discipline.”

Late in the third quarter, Watson scrambled to the sideline and on his way out of bounds he got his hand caught in in the Steelers defender face mask and was called for the penalty. In an animated reaction during a competitive moment, Watson inadvertently made contact with the official while trying to make his case.

Their were some on social media who tried to say that Watson should have been tossed from the game per league rules. This point was blown way out of proportion in my opinion and Watson was even asked about it after the game. He stated he was unaware that any contact was made and explained he was discussing the call with the official.

Watson would make the same mistake yet again in a drive shortly after when he scrambled down the sideline as he attempted the stiff arm and grasped the defenders face mask. Today the NFL made the statement after inquiries were made from multiple media outlets.
