The Cleveland Browns continued to prepare for the season opener against the Bengals on Thursday. Cornerback Denzel Ward practiced for a second straight day in what would seem to be a very encouraging sign for his availability on game day. It is assumed that Ward hasn’t been cleared yet from the NFL’s concussion protocol and his status remains uncertain.

Ward suffered a concussion during the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs twelve days ago. For Ward concussions have become a major concern moving forward in his career as he has already sustained four heading into his sixth season.

Last season Ward suffered a concussion in the Chargers game that ultimately sidelined him for over a month as he was in the protocol for an extended amount of time.

Ward has been instrumental in the Browns having a 4-1 record against Joe Burrow in recent games against the Bengals. Ward usually draws the assignment of covering Bengals star receiver Jamar Chase. That matchup could be the biggest toward determining the outcome of the game.

We hope to receive an update on Ward's status as defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is scheduled to speak with the media after practice. We will also be looking for the official injury report that will be released this afternoon as well. So as always keep it tuned here for all of the latest news and information.
