Buccaneers' Head Coach Todd Bowles Updates Antoine Winfield Jr.'s Status
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were running away with the Christmas Eve game against the Jacksonville Jaguars when in the fourth quarter star safety Antoine Winfield Jr. was announced that he was being evaluated for a concussion.
Winfield Jr. never came back into the game, but there was never a clear answer on whether or not he had indeed suffered a concussion in the contest.
However, head coach Todd Bowles was able to clarify with the media regarding the injury following the 30-12 victory.
"He's fine - he could have went back in. We just held him out because it was towards the end."
The injury update was a sigh of relief for the Buccaneers' as well as their faithful fans as they will now gear up to face off against the New Orleans Saints in a matchup that could clinch the NFC South for Tampa Bay with a victory.

The loss of Winfield Jr. would have been a serious blow to the Bucs' defense as he has put together the best season of his career in Tampa Bay coming up with timely plays that have been an integral part of the team's success.
As mentioned, AWJ is on a historic pace this season - placing his name up with some of the all-time great defenders for a single season. Thus far, Winfield Jr. has compiled 110 total tackles, 5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 3 interceptions and 12 passes defended.
Needless to say, the Bucs need Winfield Jr. to be on his A-game as they wind down the regular season and hope to make a run in the playoffs.
