The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and stud linebacker, Devin White, have been at a standstill over contract extension talks. The Buccaneers' front office believes they need to see more from White to warrant the type of contract he wants - a massive payday.

The lack of negotiations occurring ultimately led White to express his displeasure with the organization and up until this week it wasn't known whether or not he would attend the team's mandatory minicamp. White did show, however, he did not participate in any workouts or exercises.

It is a promising sign that White even showed, and according to his teammates and coaches, he should be ready for the start of training camp and will play in Tampa Bay this offseason.

In a recent interview with Rich Eisen on the Rich Eisen Show, former Buccaneers' running back and current free agent, Leonard Fournette, stated that he believes White will be one of the next players in the league to receive a big contract when discussing the value surrounding NFL running backs.

“I’m happy for them, man. That’s what it’s supposed to be like. I’m happy. I’m proud of them. And I’m quite sure my guy, my best friend Devin White’s up next to get that big contract,” Fournette said.

Fournette has been through a similar situation in his playing career as he ultimately found his way out of Jacksonville to Tampa Bay. If White is able to return to his 2020 form that helped the Buccaneers win their second Super Bowl in franchise history he may be able to convince the Bucs' brass that he is deserving of a massive payday to remain with the team. If not, White may be looking for a home elsewhere come the 2024 offseason.
