Chris Godwin Snubbed in 'Madden NFL 21' Ratings

One of Tampa Bay's Pro Bowl receivers can't crack the video game's top-10 list.

One of the most complete wide receivers in the entire NFL can't seem to get the respect he deserves from the biggest football video game franchise in the land.

As EA Sports continues to roll out their player ratings for each position in advance of releasing this year's "Madden NFL 21" video game, their list of the top 10 wide receivers in the game featured a stunning omission: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowler Chris Godwin (via ESPN's Adam Schefter):

Godwin's Pro Bowl counterpart in Tampa Bay, Mike Evans, barely cracks the list himself at No. 8.

Last season was a breakout campaign for Godwin, who finished third in the NFL with 1,333 receiving yards, despite missing more than two games due to injury. His low overall rating is even more strange considering the video game gave him one of the highest catch ratings in the league:

Godwin has some of the best hands in the game, for sure, but he checks every other box, too. His route-running, blocking ability, speed and physicality all add up to a pass-catcher who absolutely deserves top billing as one of the league's 10 best at the position.

Bucs fans know, fantasy owners know, but it looks like the folks at EA Sports will need to be reminded just how good Tampa Bay's pass-catchers are.
