Raiders Star Davante Adams Names Mike Evans Top-5 Wide Receiver in NFL

The fellow star wide receiver has high-praise for Mike Evans.

The 2014 NFL wide receiver draft class was highly touted coming in and may be one of the best wideout draft classes we have seen in terms of top-notch ability and success up to this point of their careers.

Some of the notable wide receivers from the 2014 draft include Mike Evans, Odell Beckham Jr., Brandin Cooks, Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, and Jarvis Landry.

In a recent sit down with former NFL wide receiver, Brandon Marshall on his "I Am Athlete" podcast, former Green Bay Packers WR and current Las Vegas Raiders' star Davante Adams was asked to rank his top-5 wide receivers in the NFL. To no surprise, Adams listed perhaps his equal from the 2014 draft class in his ranking, Buccaneers' wide receiver Mike Evans - noting his consistency since he entered the league.

"Mike is the most consistent [wide receiver],” Adams told Marshall. “And that shouldn’t make nobody mad. If people are mad about that, then you don’t respect somebody coming out and doing it since we came in the league together. This man ain’t not touched the rack [1,000 yards] since he’s been in the league — there ain’t nothing you can say about that.”

Game recognizes game.

Although Evans was ranked on Adams' list, he came in a bit lower than some of the other wide receivers that Adams believes are the best in the league.

1. Davante Adams
2a. Justin Jefferson
2b. Tyreek Hill
3. Stefon Diggs
4. Calvin Ridley
5a. Mike Evans
5b. CeeDee Lamb

Evans 100% deserves to be on this list and it is hard to argue that any of the guys ahead of him should be dropped lower.

As for the comparisons between Adams and Evans, the two are eerily similar in their stats at this point in their respective careers. Adams just barely beats out Evans in touchdowns with Adams having 87 to Evans 82. However, Evans bests Adams in a number of other career statistical categories including a higher average per reception (15.3), yards (10,425), and average yards per game (76.1).
