Tom Brady's Broadcasting Career With FOX Sports May Not Happen

There is growing skepticism regarding whether or not Tom Brady will actually call NFL games for Fox in 2024.

Andrew Marchand, a sports media columnist for the New York Post, recently made some interesting comments regarding Tom Brady's commitment  — or lack thereof — to become Fox's next lead in-game TV analyst.

For context, Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million deal in May of 2022 to inherit the role, which is currently occupied by Greg Olsen. Brady also confirmed his commitment publicly in February of this year, by unveiling his plans to begin covering games for Fox by the start of the 2024 NFL season.

During an episode of the Marchand and Ourand Sports Media Podcast, Marchand gave several reasons why he believes that there is a legitimate chance —  despite a very large contract in place, and public comments made by Brady to the contrary —  that Tom Brady will not fulfill his commitment to Fox.

In justifying his perspective, Marchand said that his intel is coming from people in Brady's inner circle.

"I've talked to a couple of people, recently, who are close to Brady. I kind of feel like I'm going more 49% chance he does it, 51% chance he doesn't. I don't think he wants to travel that much. I think Brady is a guy who if he's in he's all in. He's not gonna be showing up the day of games, like Joe Buck and Aikman do sometimes. He's going to be there early if he's going to do it. It's a four day event. Again, cry me a river for that type of money for five and a half months, but I think he shares his kids with Gisele and that's very important to him. And he can make money elsewhere."

It's fair to question the validity of Marchand's statement. Especially the claim that his information is coming from Brady's camp. That said, it's also fair game for anyone to speculate on whether or not Brady is truly committed to fulfilling a decade-long contract in a media role that he has no familiarity, or previous experience with.

Unfortunately for those who are eager to see what Brady can bring to the table as a broadcaster, they're going to need to wait more than a year to find out.
