FIRST QUARTER

The worst possible start for the Bucs, as Jameis Winston is picked off on the first play of the game by Panthers cornerback James Bradberry. After not getting a single catch last week, Jameis Winston tried to get the ball to Mike Evans on the first play, and Bradberry caught it instead.

The Bucs are bailed out by their defense after Winston's interception, holding the Panthers to negative yardage on three plays and forcing a field goal. Panthers lead, 3-0.

After giving up back-to-back sacks, Bucs punter Bradley Pinion and reserve corner Ryan Smith team up to pin the Panthers on their own 1-yard-line with an impressive punt. Tampa Bay's defense has been stout so far, and now Carolina is backed up deep in their own territory.

So much for winning the field position battle. The Bucs let the Panthers march 99 yards down the field, finishing it off with a 4th-and-goal plunge from Christian McCaffrey that breaks the plane on second effort. Looks like forward progress could have been stopped, but the play was upheld upon review. Panthers extend their lead, 10-0.

SECOND QUARTER

After yet another sack and another 3-and-out, the Bucs get another break on special teams, again courtesy of Ryan Smith, who forces a fumble on the punt return. Kevin Minter recovers, Bucs ball deep in Carolina territory.

The Bucs turn the special teams takeaway into immediate points, as Ronald Jones follows up a huge catch-and-run by O.J. Howard with an impressive 5-yard touchdown run. Panthers still ahead, 10-7.

After another Jameis Winston interception, Christian McCaffrey finds the end zone for the second time, this time as a receiver. Broke Vernon Hargreaves III's ankles, then stiff-armed Devin White before spinning into the end zone. Panthers lead, 17-7.

HALFTIME

It could be better, it could be worse. The Bucs pushed the ball deep into Panthers territory just before the two-minute warning, but after somehow recovering a Jameis Winston fumble, Winston fumbled again on the very next play, ending the scoring chance. 

The Bucs defense responded with a stop, getting the ball back with less than a minute left. Mike Evans dropped what would have been a huge reception that could have at least set up a field goal, and the Panthers missed a rare free kick on the last play of the half.

Panthers still ahead at the break, 17-7.

THIRD QUARTER

After trading uneventful possessions, the Panthers use a big completion from Kyle Allen to Curtis Samuel to set up another field goal from Joey Slye. Panthers stretch their lead to 20-7.

A third interception from Jameis Winston leads to a quick score for the Panthers, who stretch their lead to 27-7 on a Curtis Samuel touchdown run.

One of the few positives for the Bucs? Rookie kicker Matt Gay, a huge Tottenham Hotspur fan, who nails a 54-yard field goal in his favorite club's new stadium. Panthers still lead, 27-10.

FOURTH QUARTER

After giving up another Curtis Samuel touchdown, the Bucs marched down the field and found the end zone for a second time, this times courtesy of a Jameis Winston touchdown pass to Cameron Brate. It's Winston's 100th career touchdown pass, making him the only player in Bucs history to hit that mark.

A tip-drill two-point conversion catch by Mike Evans has the Bucs back within two scores, as the Panthers lead 34-18.

Tampa Bay just can't take advantage of back-to-back 3-and-outs forced by their defense. After muffing a punt earlier in the game (but recovering it), Bobo Wilson drops yet another one, and this time it goes to Carolina. The Panthers capitalize with another Joey Slye field goal, and their lead is back to three scores. Panthers ahead, 37-18.

The Bucs aren't giving up just yet, as Dare Ogunbowale gets his first career touchdown run to trim Carolina's lead. Jameis Winston runs in the two-point conversion, but the Panthers still lead 37-26 in the final minutes.

A solid drive for the Bucs ends with Jameis Winston's fourth interception of the day, tying a career-high. This one's gonna go to the Panthers.
