Punters don’t often get a lot of credit for being contributors to Super Bowl winning teams, but former Tampa Bay Buccaneers specialist Bradley Pinion will forever be called a champion after reaching his second-best yards per punt average in the 2020 season.

Now with the Atlanta Falcons, Pinion spent the fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons of his NFL career with the Bucs and helped them win the Super Bowl the same year quarterback Tom Brady arrived.

Some might say Brady had a bigger role in winning Tampa Bay’s second Lombardi Trophy, but that doesn’t make the memories of that season and achievement any less significant in Pinion’s life.

“It was unreal, like a dream come true type situation,” said on a recent appearance on Good Morning Football. “I had to pinch myself several times. Didn’t feel real until really the boat parade which was one of the more epic things I’ve ever been a part of in my life…It’ll bring tears to my eyes talking about it.”

The thing that brought tears to Pinion’s eyes wasn’t the championship memories alone, but an image of the punter holding the Lombardi Trophy while embracing his wife on the Raymond James Stadium surface.

A photo Pinion says, “That’s my favorite picture, actually.”

And it’s a great one.

Pinion may be a rival today, but for three years he was a part of something special for the Buccaneers organization that enjoyed their three most successful seasons much of this generation has ever seen.

When he makes his next return trip to Raymond James Stadium on October 22nd, in Week 7 of the NFL season, he’ll do so with a lot of good memories and possibly one of the greatest moments he and his wife have shared together in his visitor’s luggage.

And while punters hardly ever get the credit they deserve on championship teams, we hope Pinion also gets the all-too-rare warm welcome back from Bucs fans who celebrated his finest NFL moment with him just three seasons ago.
