The Washington Redskins are seeking their second victory of the 2019 season as they travel to Buffalo to take on the AFC East's Bills in Week 9. They will trot out rookie first rounder Dwayne Haskins for the first time as a starting QB, and hope he is able to navigate windy conditions.

Washington will rely on the ground game Sunday, as they have in their recent run of offensive futility, and pound the rock with Adrian Peterson. Unfortunately, they will be without change-of-pace dynamo Chris Thompson yet again, as he is one of the seven inactives for the game-day roster.

Thompson has been dealing with a toe injury and was ruled out with four other players following the team's final practice of the week on Friday.

  • S Deshazor Everett (ankle)
  • S Montae Nicholson (ankle)
  • TE Vernon Davis (concussion)
  • QB Case Keenum (concussion)
  • RB Chris Thompson (toe)

Also ruled out for the game, but as healthy scratches, are CB Aaron Colvin and OL Wes Martin.

To replace Thompson, the Redskins will have Wendell Smallwood and Craig Reynolds working behind Peterson. While Derrius Guice has returned to practice, he is not yet ready to rejoin the team for his first action since a Week 1 injury led to another knee surgery; this for a meniscus tear. He may be ready to be activated off injured reserve for Week 10.

As for the Bills, they only ruled one player out during the week, linebacker Maurice Alexander, who is dealing with a knee issue. The rest are relatively healthy scratches, including former Washington offensive lineman Spencer Long.
