News: Dwayne Haskins claps back at doubters, Kurt Warner offers his support
The Washington Redskins are in full preparation mode for their Sunday afternoon battle with the San Francisco 49ers. The Redskins will face off against a friendly face in Kyle Shanahan and his 5-0 patented offense. The Redskins ability to stop Shanahan's run game is one of Redskins Maven's keys to the game. While Keenum is starting this week, it's only a matter of time until Dwayne Haskins takes over, and he wants everyone to know they sit down and stop with the questions on his mental capabilities.

Since Snyder purchased the Redskins in 1999 the team's trajectory has only occasionally lifted upward. While their has been a string of bad luck, the team and its leadership has made its fare-share of mistakes. Cough, Albert Haynesworth, cough. The future is looking bright, with potential franchise quarterback Dwayne Haskins waiting in the wings, but much will ride on Snyder and Bruce Allen's ability to make the right choices going forward.
In fairness to Snyder and embattled team president Bruce Allen, Washington has had its fair share of bad luck. The bold decision to trade up in the 2012 draft to select Griffin initially looked like the right one. The Redskins went 10-6 during Griffin’s debut season, and he earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. He led an offense that was coordinated by Kyle Shanahan and included young position coaches like Matt LaFleur and Sean McVay to a no. 6 finish in DVOA and 27.3 points per game (fourth in the NFL). But Griffin’s devastating knee injury and eventual decline changed the organization’s trajectory.

There has been a common (semi-racist) narrative in recent weeks that Haskins isn't prepared mentally for the NFL. Haskins, who was an Academic All-Big Ten and OSU Scholar Athlete twice respectfully disagrees.

Haskins and Warner connected on Twitter after Warner reached out offering his support and guidance. The Hall of Fame quarterback noted his late start, and with his credentials is living proof that it doesn't matter when you get your first opportunity, it's what you do with it.
