Robert Griffin III Praises Commanders Coach Eric Bieniemy’s ‘Tenacity’

Robert Griffin III chimed in on social media about Washington Commanders assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

There’s been a lot made of recent comments from Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera when he mentioned in a press conference that some players came to him with concerns related to assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Rivera also mentioned that he advised those players to speak with the new Commanders coach and that it’s “been enlightening” for those who did.

As many in the media landscape gloss over those parts of the conversation to focus on the hand-picked negatives, one former Washington player is joining the chorus of athletes throwing support behind Bieniemy.

“THIS IS COACHING!,” former quarterback Robert Griffin III tweeted in response to some thoughts shared by Bieniemy when he was asked about Rivera’s comments. “Love the tenacity Eric Bieniemy is bringing to the Washington Commanders”

“I make it a point to address the conversation because my job is to be very observant,” Bieniemy said when asked about his actions when he observes a player struggling to adapt to his methods. “My job is to make sure that I’m doing the best possible job of over communicating clarity.”

Bieniemy’s coaching style couldn’t be more night and day from the previous coordinator the Commanders’ offense was coached under.

And the hope is that the opposite approach and method will produce different results after Washington finished no better than 23rd in scoring offense under former coordinator Scott Turner.

There are a bunch of sayings like, ‘You can’t produce diamonds without pressure’, and others that come to mind.

The bottom line is here, the Commanders have a new attitude and approach to offensive football. For the players that buy in and grow within it, the potential is immense.
