Commanders WR Terry McLaurin 'On The Fringes' of Superstar Status

Despite top 10 production with a slew of subpar quarterback play star Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin still can't crack the list of superstar players in today's NFL.

Washington Commanders fans will tell you receiver Terry McLaurin is a superstar player.

NFL.com will tell you the Commanders team captain on the outside looking in when it comes to being named among the games best.

"Terry McLaurin is another gifted playmaker who has had to make do with a motley crew of quarterbacks in his four seasons in the league with the Commanders," says NFL.com. "Barring a storybook arrival for Sam Howell, we suspect the circumstances facing McLaurin will keep him on the fringes of the discussion in this particular exercise."

Among names getting into the NFL.com's Superstar Club instead of McLaurin are A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles, Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders, and Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chase is the only receiver on the list with fewer years of pro football behind him, but he's not the only one with a stat deficiency compared to McLaurin.

When compared to the 10 names on the list McLaurin is top 10 or better in every key receiver stat including targets, receptions, yards, touchdowns, and first down catches.

Yet he still can't crack the list despite NFL.com acknowledging the long list of subpar quarterbacking McLaurin has produced with.

In our view McLaurin doesn't need Howell to step up to get him into the Superstar Club this time next year, he needs national media to understand that production with poor quarterbacking is a positive, not a negative.
