Inside the Numbers - Jets @ Redskins

One of the regular features that I want to do here with S-I, is something I've dubbed "Inside the Numbers" over the years.
We have so much quantifiable analysis that it's a shame not to have a portal to easily identify some key statistics, trends or story lines especially in the analytics and information crunch world we live in.
Especially if we have a game on tap, between two awful football teams. You can only dress up a pig in so many ways, but it still oinks.
With that said, let's get to this version of I.T.N. for the (1-8, YIKES!) and the (2-7) New York Jets (GULP!).
I. Just How Bad is It?
The Redskins haven't scored a touchdown in 13 + quarters. We all know how dreadful they've been and we all know the reasons why. Yes they run the ball more than many fans, media & people inside the building might like. However, Bill Callahan is doing that because it's what he believes in AND to cover up the dreadfully inconsistent quarterback play along with an offensive line that constantly lets the offense down.
There's many reasons to consider as to why the Redskins can't score touchdowns:
1. Their average starting field position is fifth-worst in the NFL, per FootballOutsiders.com at the 26.14 yard line on 92 offensive drives. The Jets are second-worst at 25.13, a full yard on average behind the Skins.
2. The Jets and the Redskins are the two worst teams in terms of yards per drive average in the entire NFL. The Jets are averaging 19.68, while the Redskins are at 23.96.
New York has 105 drives compared to the Redskins 92. Surprisingly, the Redskins only have fifth-fewest amount of drives in the entire league. The No. 1 team in fewest drives is the surging Ravens. The Redskins are tied with the Saints and Dolphins in total drives entering week 11.
3. The Jets and the Redskins are the two worst offenses in the NFL in points per drive average, according to FootballOutsiders.com. New York is at 0.94 and the Redskins are at 1.17 points per drive.
4. The Jets and Redskins are the two worst teams in the NFL in plays per drive. New York is at 4.90 and Washington is at 5.25 plays per drive.
5. The Jets and Redskins are two worst third-down offenses in the NFL. New York is at 23.68% and the Skins are at 24.18%. The next closest team (Denver) is over 28% conversion percentage.
II. Home Blues!
The Washington Redskins last home win at FedExField came on October 21, 2018. That's almost 13 months ago to put it in perspective. They've lost their last eight games in Landover.
Their last three wins, since a road win against the Giants on October 28th of last year, have all come in the state of Florida.
Two weeks after that Giants win, they beat the Tampa Bay Bucs in Tampa. Their last win of the season in 2018 was in Jacksonville against the Jaguars and their only win of this season, came in Miami, against the Dolphins, just a few weeks ago.
Their last win over an NFC conference opponent was that victory over the Buccaneers on November 11, 2018. That means it is now just over a year since their last win over a conference foe & that won't change until at least next Sunday, when they host the Detroit Lions, (H/T to my pal "Bernie in Rockville" for helping out with this nugget.)
Over the next day or so, we'll be adding more numbers to the carnage set for Sunday, so please keep checking back.
