Redskins PM Rush - Tuesday 11/12/19

Five early keys as to how the Washington Redskins can win their second game of the year over the New York Jets.

Redskins players were off on Tuesday but coaches were hard at work devising a game plan to try and get Washington's 2nd win of the year.

An early look at how the Redskins could possibly win this game:

1. Attack the Jets corners along the boundary. New York has all sorts of injuries and very little talent at the position. Terry McLaurin could have a field day, but I would not test their talented safeties, especially Jamal Adams over the middle. 

2. The Redskins must stay patient with the run game. The Jets held Saquon Barkley to ONE net yard rushing on 13 attempts last week. The Jets are No. 2 in the NFL with only 81.9 rushing yards allowed per game and No. 1 in the league at 3.01 yards per rush.

3. Fabian Moreau or Jimmy Moreland have to make sure that if/when Jamison Crowder catches the ball in space that they are in good position to tackle him and a short catch doesn't turn into a home run. Crowder has played in all nine Jets games and has 65 targets for an average of 7.2 targets per game. Crowder has 48 receptions for 486 yards, two scores and a 10.1 average.

4. Josh Norman, who has been terrible this year, simply can not get matched up with the speedy Robby Anderson and when matched up against the much slower Demaryius Thomas, he can not get body shielded constantly on slants and crossing routes. Thomas is 6'3.

Josh Norman has a 15.2 yards per reception average against his coverage, per @PFF, and a 135.4 passer rating against this year. Also charged with 5 touchdowns allowed.

5. Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat must get home against a terrible offensive line. The Jets have allowed 39.0 sacks on the year in nine games, more than four per game.  

#Redskins OLB Ryan Kerrigan had 13 sacks in each of the last two years, for a total of 26. He has 2 now. A stunning fall. Meanwhile, Preston Smith has 10.0 so far in his first season w/ #Packers.
